Knowledge Sharing Workshop in Tiel

As part of the FORTRESS research project, on 20 September 2016, the FORTRESS Consortium will hold a knowledge-sharing workshop in Tiel, the Netherlands. The workshop will provide a platform for the exchange of research outcomes between related European projects. In this respect the focus will be on 1) empirical findings for reducing cascading effects in crises and enhancing resilience, and 2) tools for supporting decision making before and during crises. The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss the latest empirical findings in the field of crisis management, resilience and the curbing of cascading effects during crises. The knowledge-sharing workshop is being held back to back with the Domino workshop, organised by IFV, which will provide a further opportunity for project representatives to engage with first responders.

Past workshops

FORTRESS partners have organised the following public workshops:

  • 16 October 2015: Scenario validation workshop – Berlin, Germany.

In FORTRESS, we are dealing with cascading effects of crisis in critical infrastructures. We developed case studies, describing different nodes and their relations to each other. The different scenarios will be used for the so-called FIET, Fortress Incident Evaluation Tool, a tool that will help risk managers to assess crisis situations and to train for them. The workshop in Berlin focused on a specific flooding scenario to exemplify one of many different scenarios that will be used for the FORTRESS Incident Evaluation Tool (FIET).

    • Length of workshop: Half day
    • A copy of the agenda can be found here.
  • DOMINO workshop: 20-22 May 2015, Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands.
The Domino workshop was a joint 3-day public event to which several EU projects and first response organisations contributed. Various first responders were present as well as several European projects. FORTRESS presented on the FSB and the FIET. Have a look at our news item for more information on the workshop.
  • Multi-stakeholder workshop on modeling and incident evolution tools: 10 April 2015 in London.
The multi-stakeholder workshop served as a first opportunity to discuss preliminary versions of the FORTRESS tools with a small group of first responders. More information on the workshop can be found in this news item.
