On February 25th 2016, IFV organised a simulation exercise in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The event involved 30 participants from water and flood crisis management who examined around 20 specific scenarios and simulations of cascade propagations arising from a major flood crisis event modelling worst-case effects. Three specific phases were examined in detail, and workshop participants broke into groups to address a range of preparatory and response issues arising from the workshop. The workshop addressed a wide range of issues for The Netherlands in flood management in general, and a subset of issues brought by the FORTRESS project whose tools (FSB/FIET) will be tested by these same experts and a wider set of colleagues later in 2016.
