Events FORTRESS organised or participated in are:

  • FORTRESS partners have been putting the Fortress Scenario Builder (FSB) and the FORTRESS Incident Evolution Tool (FIET) into action through four simulation events and workshops, during which the tools were tested and feedback from stakeholders was collected. Simulation events completed to date include:
    • January 8th in Turin – Exercise in Italy was completed. Responsible partner: SITI
    • February 25th in Apeldoorn – Exercise in the Netherlands was completed. Responsible partner: IFV
    • March 8th in Paris – Exercise in France was completed as part of the Sequana national exercise. Responsible partner: EDF
  • 8-9 December 2015: Leon Hempel, TUB, and Robert Pelzer, TUB, presented ‘Der FORTRESS Scenario Builder: ein Tool zur Sichtbarmachung von Kritikalität und Pfaden kaskadierender Systemausfälle in Netzwerken interdependenter Infrastrukturen‘ at the second International Workshop on Innovation for Crisis Management (I4CM) in Berlin
  • 1 October 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘Firebrary semantics’ at the Annual First Responder Conference, Amersfoort.
  • 29 September 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘Crisis information management’, in a class at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam.
  • 17 September 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘Plans for Innovation 2016’ at the National Information Management Panel, Arnhem.
  • 15-17 September 2015: IFV attended the Future Security – 10th Security Research Conference, Berlin.
  • 15 September 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘VERA and semantic operation in the Dutch Fire Brigade’, at the National Architecture Board, Rotterdam.
  • 4-5 September 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘Information management at the Sail event’, at World Port Days, Rotterdam.
  • 1 September 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘FORTRESS Semantic Operations” at the 3D Information Project kick-off meeting, Enschede.
  • 16 August 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented ‘FORTRESS Shared Geo-Information” at Sail 2015 information management team, Amsterdam.
  • 19-23 July 2015: Piet Sellke (DIA) delivered a presentation on FORTRESS at the World Congress on Risk, Singapore.
  • 9-10 July 2015: The Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED) 2015 conference. For the first time SECED organised a session on vulnerability and community impacts. Kim Hagen (TRI) was present and delivered a presentation on cascading effects as categorised in the FORTRESS project.
  • 18 June 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented “FORTRESS Security Innovation” at The Hague Security Delta Workshop.
  • 8-12 June 2015: Rob Peters, IFV, presented on FORTRESS at the Interschutz Crise Messe in Hannover, Germany.
  • 24-27 May 2015: The 12th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM). FORTRESS partners had a paper on triggers of cascading effects accepted, as well as one on general morphological analysis.   • 24 May 2015: The DRIVER project workshop and REA Community of User event in Brussels. FORTRESS was represented in round-table discussions by Philipp Offermann, TUB.
  • 20-22 May 2015: FORTRESS partner IFV co-organised and participated in the DOMINO in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands. The workshop was a joint 3-day public event to which several EU projects and first response organisations contributed. Various first responders were present as well as several European projects.   • May 2015: Carole Duval and Yves Dien (EDF) presented FORTRESS to the Steering Committee of the project ‘Paris Flooding Crisis’ in Paris. In this month, they also presented FORTRESS to the French National Bank (Banque de France) Risk Management Division, in Paris.
  • March 2015: Carole Duval and Yves Dien (EDF) presented FORTRESS to the French National Railway Company (SNCF) during an internal symposium dealing with risk management in Paris.
  • 12-13 February 2015Massimo Migliorini (SiTi) presented on FORTRESS at the Spatial Data Harmonization Workshop held at the Joint Research Council on the 12-13 February 2015. The workshop purpose was to present HALE, a software tool for the automated conversion of geospatial data into INSPIRE format. A copy of the presentation can be found here.
  • 3-4 February 2015: The FORTRESS consortium attended a project meeting in Turin, Italy.
  • 21 January 2015: Massimo Migliorine (SiTi) presented the FORTRESS project at the Daisy Project Workshop, at the University of Genova, Italy.
  • 7-12 December 2014: Piet Sellke presented on FORTRESS at the Society of Risk Analysis (U.S. Section) Annual meeting, Denver.
  • 4 December 2014: Sergio Olivero and Massimo Migliorini met with the iNSPiRe project  for feedback and exchange of knowledge on Deliverable 2.1.
  • 27 November 2014: Massimo Migliorini and Anna Galfrè (SiTi) presented on the FORTRESS project at an thematic event on on the Moncenisio Dam. This workshop took place in Turin, Italy at the Piedmont Civil Protection Headquarters.
  • 20 November 2014: Sergio Olivero,  Massimo Migliorini and Anna Galfrè (SiTi) attended an internal SiTi workshop on attended an internal SiTi workshop on “Innovative Tools for Security” and represented the FORTRESS project. 
  • 11 November 2014: TRI’s Kim Hagen presented on part of the work carried out as part of Task 3.1 ‘Crisis case studies of cascading and/or cross-border disasters’ at the ‘Emergency Services: Themes in Planning, Response and Recovery‘ conference at Nottingham Trent University.   • 22 & 23 October 2014: FORTRESS meeting. All partners met in Stockholm  to discuss the project’s progress.
  • 22 July 2014: SiTi presented on FORTRESS to the Piedmont Region in Italy and the Rhone Alpes Region in France. The latter presentation can be found here.
  • 25 June 2014: SiTi’s Massimo Migliorini attended a meeting at the Joint Research Centre’s Institute for Environment and Sustainability (JRC-IES). His presentation on FORTRESS, delivered to the ‘Europe’s Internet access point to the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe (INSPIRE) Geoportal’ can be found here.
  • 25 June 2014: TUB’s Leon Hempel attended a Clustering meeting of the Research Executive Agency on Synergies between FP7 projects related to Critical Infrastructure Protection against Natural Hazard and Cascading Effects in Crisis Situations. Leon Hempel (TUB) presented on FORTRESS.
  • 18 June 2014: UCL’s IRDR (Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction) Annual Conference. FORTRESS was represented by Kim Hagen (TRI) during a panel session on ‘Cascading Crises’.
  • 16-18 June 2014: Society for Risk Analysis conference, Istanbul. DIA’s Piet Selke presented on the FORTRESS project.
  • 27 & 28 May 2014: FORTRESS held its kick-off meeting in Berlin, Germany. The meeting was attended by all partners as well as a representative from the European Commission.
